Take a look at this gorgeous picture of Model Elaine. Her hair is perfect, skin is flawless, even her posture & poise are perfect. She seems to have the perfect body, face, hair, and outfit!

Guess what? It’s clearly not a real photo. We enhanced it quite a bit. How?

We first took the hair and dress from a picture of Anna Kornikova. We tilted Elaine’s head to match the posture. We then ran her picture through a “skin smoother” in photoshop, adjusted the brightness and contrast. In the original picture, Elaine looked angry, so we lifted the eyebrows, and erased the somewhat-dark circles under her eyes. We made the nose a bit smaller, added colour to her lips, turned her lips into more of a smile rather then the frown that she originally had. We changed her eye color, and ran through another filter to make sure her hair and everything matched, and fit well together.

Altogether, the entire process took about three hours (including the time spent finding the perfect hair and dress to complement her look).

As you can see, she is a beautiful girl already.

She is actually a professional model, and in this photo she has her hair and makeup done. However we wanted to give her a more modern and younger look.

She seemed to be very impressed with the final result.

This should hopefully change your ways of thinking when you see how much this image was altered – the same way many celebrities pics were altered!

So, next time you don’t feel pretty because your boyfriend is drooling over some “hot” celebrity in the movie you’re watching… don’t take it personally. Simply tell him that if you had the opportunity to, you would hang around a personal trainer all day – everyday… eat nothing… have hair and makeup professionals following you around… and have a video editor enhance and filter through every move you make to be sure that your boyfriend only sees those picture perfect frames of you. Because once you strip all those away from those “hot” celebrities and supermodels… what becomes of them? They’re just regular girls… a body made up of cells and molecules… just like the rest of us.

It’s everywhere! All the smooth, flawless complexions, skinny stick thin waistlines, tower tall legs, the perfection. I’ll be honest with you – sometimes I get tired of seeing it. It’s all I see in magazines, movies, CD’s, books – everything!

And then I look in the mirror and I see the exact opposite. I know you do it too. You see, as females we were born with these unique personalities and body shapes, but we don’t look at it like that. All we see on ourselves are the hippie–hips… curvy tummies …short legs… imperfections in our skin… you name it, it’s there on the list. The list of “imperfections” seems to go on forever, but in Hollywood it’s non-existent because they don’t have that. Or do they? See girls, we live in a Barbie world – literally. On the covers of anything is a perfect, flawless image that is given to us on a silver platter and is said to be what we are supposed to look like. But it’s not. Celebs without makeup are just as beautiful as you and I.

So the hero of this story is going to be you and I. We are going to save the world, or at least a little percent of it anyways. So you want to know a secret? Those girls that you see that are perfect: double zero jeans, tall, with a flawless complexion and body, only represent 10% of the girls in America. You would never know that would you? I wouldn’t have, that’s for sure.

You see, everyone wants to be accepted, whether it’s at home, school, church, etc. we want to be accepted. And in this time and era to be accepted you have to be flawless from your head to your toes. But guess what? It’s not possible! That’s why I’m writing this: to show you something you might never have seen before.

There’s another side to this whole “perfection” theme. It’s called: there are no rules for perfection, because you are perfect! I know, roll your eyes. But it’s true- you see when we’re born we’re given exactly everything that makes us unique. We’re not given a cookie-cutter look that is exactly like Miley Cyrus, Angelina Jolie or Vanessa Hudgens. We’re given our own theme. It’s called the perfect unique theme, we all have them. That’s why no one looks exactly alike (unless you have a twin) until you do something to alter that image.

Unlike celebrities and supermodels, we don’t all have personal trainers to keep us in perfect shape, as well as makeup artists touching up our perfectly done makeup every few minutes or fixing our hair. We don’t have a professional photographer taking zillions of photos of us to make sure there is one perfect one in that bunch. We further, don’t have an expert graphic designer to touch up the perfect image so that is is absoulely flawless! Our natural image is what sets us apart from each other, and from the plastic in the world.

That’s why we’re made the way we are. I honestly wish that society would protray an image that is real, the real girl next door. Because honestly, I looked next door and that girl looked like me: messy hair, sweats and a shirt, and no makeup (and a few red spots). Now that’s real, and when you start adding all these fake layers of skin smoothing, pounds of makeup, thinning machines to images, it’s not the real deal. And that’s what should be there- the real, beautiful uniqe girl with the hippie-hips and curvy tummy. The girl with the bad hair days, and acne days. The girl that smiles and her teeth aren’t perfect either. That’s my kind of girl that I would want on the cover of a magazine, the real girl next door.

So girls, guess what? Want to know how to fix those problems? It’s not with photoshop, or plastic surgery. It’s with confidence, it’s with a ready smile and a beautiful girl like yourself, you can make it look amazing. So when you go back to school, hold you head up high and remember that the most beautiful thing a girl can wear is confidence. It’s the key to everything and plus, you look beautiful no matter what. So be you, be beautiful, be real, be a stunna.
