Ochigo stumbled into my room, before collapsing on the floor. I sighed and pushed my hair back, pondering what I should do with him. Before I could think of anything, loud snoring caused me to jump. I looked down at a sleeping Ochigo. I guess when he’s drunk, he really exhausts himself. I grabbed the blanket that was folded at the end of my bed and threw it over him, tucking a pillow under his head. If he was comfortable on the floor, then I didn’t want to move him. Honestly, I didn’t want to move him anyway.

“He’s pretty easy to take care of, even when he’s drunk,” Tankai’s voice sounded
through my room. I whirled around, checking the door, but the doorframe was
empty. “Over here,” it sounded again.

I turned to my computer. Tankai was on the screen. His hair was wet, like he had just
gotten out of the shower; and he was shirtless. Why was my heart pounding?
Uncontrollably, my eyes moved down his torso, tracing his abs. If he had a
shirt on, my eyes would be undressing him. Why couldn’t I pull them away?
What’s happening?

“I mean, he just falls asleep on the floor, and it’s easy to leave him there,” he continued.

Numbly, I walked over and took a seat in my computer chair. “Yeah, he’s simple. I actually thought he’d be more complicated.”

Tankai laughed lightly. “What with the way he tries to pick up girls and all.” I laughed along with Tankai. “Honestly,” he started, “did you have any fun tonight?”

I blinked a few times, shocked at his question. “Yes. I had a lot of fun. I can’t remember
the last time I went to a club, just to hang out with my friends.”

Tankai rubbed the back of his neck. Was he nervous? “Well perhaps we could it again.”

“Go clubbing?” I asked, confused at what exactly he was talking about.

He laughed. Even his laugh was nervous. “I was thinking just going out. Maybe dinner and a movie…with me…”

I gasped. “Tankai, I-“

“If you don’t want to then just say so,” he interrupted.

I smiled. “I would love to. When can we go?”

He seemed shocked that I had actually accepted. “How about tomorrow?”

I nodded, trying to hide the blush that crept across my face. “Tomorrow sounds great!”

A loud snore from Ochigo told me that I was too loud. I turned around and watched him
for a second, hoping I didn’t wake him up. He scratched his arm and rolled
over, but his eyes never opened; and soon after he was comfortable, his snoring
continued.

I returned my attention to Tankai. “I better get off this thing. I don’t want to wake up
Ochigo.”

Tankai nodded. “I understand. I’ll talk to you tomorrow at the lab.”

I nodded and waved. “Goodnight.” I concluded my conversation by blowing the screen a
kiss. I could swear I saw Tankai blush before I shut down my computer and
turned off the camera.

I sipped at a cappuccino and took a bite out of a Twinkie. For some reason, coffee and
Twinkies help me concentrate. I don’t know why; they always have though. I
narrowed my eyes in concentration as the spongy texture was tossed around my
mouth.

I attempted to go to sleep not long after I disconnected with Tankai. But several thoughts
and ideas ran through my brain, making my mind restless and sleep impossible. I
decided to apply some of these ideas that I had by instinct. I got into the
program on my computer and began constructing a formula for the cure. I was
really making a breakthrough now. Ochigo was still asleep. But I was careful
not to wake him.

I punched in another element and watched the virtual atom’s reaction to what I added. It
broke. I sighed and dropped my head onto my computer desk. My forehead hit the
edge of the desk. I sat back up, rubbing my forehead, trying to ease the pain.
While doing this, I watched the steam curl up from my cappuccino. Just as I was
about to give up hope for the night, another thought hit me like a school bus.

I typed and clicked until I had the exact formula where I wanted it. Then I crossed my
fingers and watched the virtual atom, hoping to have gotten it right this time.
The words flashed across my screen: Stable.
It took a lot of energy to hold back the squeal rising in my throat. I had done
it! I had found the cure for the disease!

I have to tell Tankai, I thought to myself.

Quickly, I turned on the camera and logged into my chat account. Tankai hardly ever turns
off his camera, or his computer. The screen flashed and Tankai’s bedroom came
into view. The lights were off so I couldn’t see much. Through the darkness I
could barely make out Tankai’s figure in the lump on the bed.

“Tankai!” I called, trying to wake him up. “Tankai! Wake up, you lazy ass!! It’s an
emergency!”

He groaned and rolled out of bed, walking over to the screen in his underwear. I blushed.
But I think he was too tired to notice, or even care. Thank God! He fell down
into his chair, not even coordinated enough to see sit.

He yawned and scratched his head. “What is it, Gwen? Are you okay?”

I nodded. “I’m great. But you’re never going to believe what I found!”

“What?” He was even falling back asleep in his chair. Poor guy, I felt kind of bad for
waking him up. But he needed to hear about this.

“I found it.”

“Found what? Atlantis? The jump drive you lost last week? The nickel I dropped down
your sink?”

“You dropped a nickel down my sink?” I was suddenly taken off-topic. “That’s why the
disposal wasn’t working properly.”

Tankai nodded half-heartedly. “Yeah, I’m sorry about that.”

I shook my head, getting back to the right subject. “Never mind that. I found the formula
for the cure!”

Tankai blinked, suddenly awake. “Are you serious?”

I nodded. “Watch this.” I pulled up the proper program and sent him the atom model. He
watched it until Stable flashed across the screen again.

He seemed
amazed. “Congratulations, Gwen. You’ve done it.” I smiled triumphantly. “Wake
up Ochigo. We’re going to the lab.”

“We’re
going right now? It’s four o’clock in the morning!”

Tankai
shrugged. “So? I’ll be there in a minute to pick you guys up.” He looked down
at his wardrobe. “As soon as I get dressed.”

I laughed.
“It might be a good idea.”

The moment
of truth: mixing the necessary compounds. There was no way I could do it. Every
other time, I messed up. My nerves vibrated and made my hands tremble with
anticipation. I wasn’t stable enough to fuse the chemicals. Instead I stood
back and watched patiently as Ochigo and Tankai debated on who would be the one
to do it.

Ochigo lost
the game of “Rock, paper, scissors” and now had to combine the mixtures. Tankai
walked over to me and, standing behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist. He
pulled me tightly against him and tucked his face into my hair, inhaling the
scent of my shampoo. He shifted his face to my ear.

“Are you
okay?” he whispered.

“Yeah, I’m
fine. Why are you asking?” I replied.

“You’re
trembling. And you seem tense.”

I smiled.
“I’m just excited…and extremely nervous.”

He kissed
the top of my head. “It’ll work. I promise.”

“Thank you,
Tankai.” I smiled.

Ochigo
hesitated, holding the test tube over the beaker. He glanced back at us with
nervous eyes. Tankai and I nodded encouragingly. Ochigo nodded back,
understandingly. He poured the clear liquid from the test tube into the light
yellow compound in the beaker. The yellow swirled hungrily with the clear and
bonded. Ochigo let out a heavy sigh of relief and I jumped up and down, squealing
for joy.

“Congratulations,
Gwen!” Tankai cheered. “You did it!”

“I’m so
proud!” Ochigo added.

I couldn’t
stop smiling. My mother and so many other people that needed that cure could
finally get it. And it was all because of me, and my two best friends. Though,
I believe Tankai and I were becoming more than friends… I bit my lower lip,
deep in thought. A pair of strong arms wrapped around me and pulled me back
into reality. It was Tankai.

“Let’s
celebrate,” he whispered.

I giggled.
“Alright, but how are we going to do that?”

“You said I
could take you out.” He pulled back from the hug, leaving his hands on my
shoulders.

I nodded.
“Yes, but- It’s so early.” I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall behind
me. It read 5:45 am.

He
shrugged. “So? We’ll go home and go back to sleep; then later, I’ll pick you up
and we’ll do something.” He rubbed the back of his neck in a nervous manner. “I
haven’t thought of what to do, but I’ll figure out something. And I’ll take you
somewhere special that I know you’ll love.”

I tilted my
head to the side, closed my eyes tightly, and smiled. “That would be great, Tankai!”

He seemed
surprised that I had actually accepted. “O-okay. Great! I’ll give you a call
later and let you know what time I can pick you up.”

I nodded.

Suddenly I
remembered Ochigo was still in the room. I stood on my tiptoes and peered over
Tankai’s shoulder. Tankai didn’t move, but looked out of the corner of his eye
at what I was staring at. Ochigo was patiently sitting on the bench next to the
door. He looked depressed.

“Ochigo?” I
called.

He shook
his head. “What? Oh. Hello, Gwen.”

I wasn’t
convinced. “Are you okay?”

He stood up
and nodded. “I was just zoning. I do that a lot when I think. Why do you ask?”

“You were
looking a little pissed off there for a minute,” Tankai answered for me.

Ochigo
stretched his hands over his head and his jaw parted in a huge yawn. “No, I
wasn’t. It’s just this look I get when I zone.” He walked over to us. “What’s
up?”

“Tankai’s
taking me out for a celebration. You want to come?” I asked. Tankai looked
slightly disappointed.

Ochigo ran
a hand through his thick, black hair. “No, that’s okay. If Tankai’s taking you
out then I don’t want to interfere.”

I waved my
hands frantically. “No! You’re not interfering at all. It’s a celebration.”

Ochigo
shook his head. “I would rather not. Besides, I have a headache.”

“That
happens when you get drunk,” Tankai changed the subject.

Ochigo
looked upset. “Yeah, but I didn’t get any phone numbers.”

I laughed
as images of Ochigo trying to talk to girls using lame pick-up lines ran
through my head. “Alright, Ochigo, you don’t have to go. Would you like to go
home?”

He nodded.
“You’re probably getting irritated with me for staying at your house.”

I shrugged.
“Not really. You were drunk and it didn’t feel right to leave you home alone in
that state.”

He smiled.
“Thanks Gwen.”

I jutted my
thumb out at Tankai. “It was his idea.”

He smiled
his thanks to Tankai as well. “Well, I’m going to head home.”

“Let me
give you a ride,” Tankai offered.

Ochigo
nodded and walked toward the door. Tankai followed behind him. I was about to
grab my jacket and follow them to Tankai’s car, but I was stopped by a soft
bubbling sound. I stopped and looked around for the source of the noise. The
cure was bubbling inside the container it was stored in. The glass was sealed
so nothing could leak out, or in… So why was it bubbling? Could it be a delayed
reaction?

“Hey Gwen,”
Ochigo’s voice shouted from the door. “Let’s go!” Tankai honked the horn from
his car sitting outside the lab.

I hesitated
to leave, keeping my eyes on the container that was placed securely on the
shelf. Tankai honked again. I spun around and saw that Ochigo already had his
seatbelt fastened in the passenger seat. Tankai waved, motioning to me that I
needed to hurry. I took one last look at the cure. It stopped bubbling.
Brushing it away, I ran out the door and jumped into the backseat of Tankai’s
car.

“Jeez,
Gwen, we were about to leave you there,” Ochigo warned.

I looked out
the window, still thinking about the cure. “I’m sorry. Something caught my
eye.”

“Gosh. What
possibly could’ve caught your eye in the laboratory? You’ve been in there
several times. Was there a shiny quarter on the ground?”

I didn’t
answer him. I just watched silently as the scenery of downtown Chicago whizzed by. I
was surprised by how
active the streets were at six in the morning. Then again, it was only six.
People were getting ready for work, or school, or just getting up for the day.

“Gwen?” Tankai
was watching me in the rearview mirror. “Are you alright?”

“Yes. I
guess I’m just a little tired.” I rubbed my eyes, trying to convince him. I
hoped he didn’t see through my lie. I liked him, but I didn’t want to tell him
about what I saw. He might get concerned, and I didn’t want him to be worried.

About ten
minutes later the car rolled into my driveway, dropping me off first. Tankai
usually drops off Ochigo first. Why me today? Perhaps he wanted to talk to
Ochigo about something important? I don’t know. And, to be honest, I was too
tired to even care. I waved goodbye to my friends and unlocked the door,
walking into my dimly lit house. Dawn poured through the windows as I trudged
up the stairs to my bedroom; there was no need to turn on lights.

I was
half asleep even as I took off my shoes and pants. Sliding under my light blue
comforter, I snuggled into my pillow and tried to go to sleep. My mind kept
wandering back to the cure. Why was it bubbling? Was it really a delayed
reaction? What kind of reaction could that be? Was it dangerous? My restless
mind pondered these questions, making sleep impossible. But these questions
made me scared of the answers.

We got out of the car and Tankai locked it. Dodging a white Sudan that wasn’t paying attention, we got across the street and jumped in the back of the line. It actually moved a lot faster than we thought it would. Within ten minutes, we were inside the night club. A deejay checked the surround sound in his booth set up on a stage. People danced with the music, either alone or with a partner. Strobe lights moved through the crowd, flashing in tune to the beat of the symphony.

Ochigo walked in the direction of the bar and began flirting with random girls. The first was a blonde wearing a short black dress; she slapped him. I laughed. The second was a redhead wearing a t-shirt and a mini skirt. She returned his flirt and the two of them started dancing seductively. I raised my eyebrows in surprise. “Lucky bastard,” Tankai whispered. I could barely hear him over the loud melody. He shook his head clear and looked at me, his eyes trailed down my body before coming back up. I placed my hands on my hips, secretly pleased that he liked the way I looked. “And just what do you think you’re looking at?” “A goddess, I believe.” I was at a loss for words. Tankai laughed and grabbed my hand. “Let’s dance.”

I followed him onto the dance floor obediently and stopped when he did. I wasn’t very good at dancing, but I refused to let him find out about it. I waited patiently, ignoring my pounding heart and sweaty hands, but my body eventually found the beat. My hips swayed and jerked to the drums over the speakers. Tankai grabbed my hips and pulled me against him, using his hands to make my lower half move the way he wanted it to. I ran my hands along his torso in an enticing manner. A mischievous smile crossed his lips and he added pressure to a certain spot below my hip bones. Reacting to this, my body dropped down to the ground. Thinking fast, I slowly got up, dragging my hands up his legs as I did. He seemed shocked that I had responded in such a way. I smiled slyly, pleased with the expression on his face. Obviously I hit a sensitive spot because he threw his head back and gasped, grabbing my hand. I was trying to figure out where I had touched when he pulled his head back; his face was red with embarrassment. I smiled innocently.

He pulled my body tightly against his and locked one of my legs between his. This time he manipulated my body as an entirety, not just the lower half. After I had twisted and turned in every possible way I could think of, he leaned over so his face was tucked under my jawbone. My breathing came in short gasps as his warm exhales tickled my skin. He shifted his head up so he was breathing in my ear. “You hit a very arousing spot, Gwen,” he whispered. I smirked. “I can tell. Just where was it exactly?” I moved my hands down his chest slowly, searching for the place I got such a good reaction out of. He grabbed my hands when they reached the top of his abs, stopping them from going any further down. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” “Why not?” I asked. “Because there’s a good possibility that I could lose control.”

He gently brushed the hair away from my eyes. “I don’t want to hurt you, Gwen.” I didn’t know what to say. I was afraid I’d only make things worse if I spoke. Tankai let go of me and walked over to talk to a group of guys standing on the other side of the floor. I was surprised he left without saying anything. I stood there in shock for a moment while people tried to get around me. Once I recovered, I pushed past the jostling crowd toward the bar. I needed a drink if I was going to survive the night. Why did Tankai take off like that? Did he ever consider maybe I wanted him to “lose control”? I don’t know. I don’t understand guys anymore. The bartender slid a watermelon Smirnoff down the counter at me. I sipped at the sweet alcohol and watched the wild dancers around me.

Ochigo rolled down the window and stuck his head out, yelling obnoxiously to the crowded streets. Tankai glanced at me in the mirror again. I pretended I didn’t notice, and took another drink of my Zima. He had been doing that all night. After the club, we stopped by a bar because Ochigo wanted some drinks, now he was drunk. Since then, we’ve been driving around aimlessly, because we’re scared to leave a drunken Ochigo home alone. We slowed to a stop at a red light, leaving our friend hanging half way out the window. “Hey ladies,” Ochigo’s speech was slurred and his words ran together as he attempted to get some phone numbers. I rolled my eyes; Tankai ignored him. “You wanna go get some quarters wit me? We can go to da laundra mat and watch the clothes in the dryer.” The girls looked disgusted. Luckily, the light turned green and Tankai sped off.   “Call me!” Ochigo yelled to the girls. He pulled himself back into the car and took another drink. “She won’t call.” I wasn’t quite sure who he was talking to.

We got about a block down before Ochigo said anything else. It was the longest he had been quiet for.“Tankai, you should pull over. I think I’m going to—“ “If you throw up in this car, Ochigo, I’m going to rip out your throat and feed it to those dogs,” Tankai interrupted, motioning with his chin to two Dobermans who were guarding some house. “Then pull over,” Ochigo demanded.

Tankai pulled over next to a park and Ochigo bailed out of the car, launching himself into the grass. He didn’t get very far before the track that circled the park was covered in vomit. I flinched at the thought of someone stepping in that. It was Tankai’s voice that took me off guard. I hadn’t heard it since the dance. “I think one of us should let him stay with us tonight.” He was watching me in the mirror again. “We both need sleep, we can’t continue driving around all night, but I’m not letting him go home alone.” I nodded. “I understand. I’ll let him stay with me. The new paint in your house is still drying, and I don’t want him to mess it up unknowingly.” Tankai lowered his head. “Thanks, Gwen. And I’m sorry about the dance. I shouldn’t have walked off without saying anything, but I didn’t want to take any chances. You look so fine, and your dancing was alluring, I just didn’t want to risk losing control.” I smiled, closing my eyes tightly. “It’s alright, Tankai. I understand. I would’ve done the same thing in your position.”

A small white dog walked over and sniffed Ochigo. Ochigo pulled his head back, squinting his eyes. “Oh shit, a porcupine.” The dog whined and hiked its leg up, peeing on him. Ochigo rolled around, screaming for help, like he was dieing. I just laughed. Tankai sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Once the dog was done, Ochigo gathered himself and got back in the car. He smelled of urine, and it was strong. He didn’t seem bothered by it, he actually looked confused. Tankai rolled down the windows, trying to deaden the smell. I tucked my nose into my shirt collar, but it didn’t help much. “Must’ve been a skunk,” Ochigo finally said. “Dude, does this stink?”

He reached over and stuck his sleeve in Tankai’s face. Tankai didn’t answer, but I could’ve sworn I saw the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. Tankai seemed anxious to get Ochigo out of his car when we pulled up to my apartment. I said goodbye and helped my intoxicated friend into my house. Once inside, I ignored his mutterings and pushed him into the shower. I turned on the water and grabbed the shower head, spraying him down, fully clothed. There was no way I was going to let him spend the night with me if he smelled bad. He danced around in the tub, obviously liking the fact that I was hosing him down in my house. I laughed. Ochigo was truly hilarious when he was drunk. Once I was satisfied and sure that he didn’t stink anymore, I hung up the shower head and turned off the water.

“Hey! What’d you do that for?” Ochigo protested, hiccupping. I didn’t answer him. I just threw a red towel at him and went into my room. Hiding deep down in the bottom of a box in my closet were some clothes I stole from my ex-boyfriend. I grabbed a baggy white shirt and some basketball shorts, taking them into Ochigo. After throwing them at him as well, I closed the door and waited patiently on the other side for him to come out of the bathroom. I didn’t mind getting him wet in my shower if he was fully clothed, but I did mind having to dress him. Not a chance was I going to do that willingly. I crossed my legs and folded my arms over my chest, leaning against the wall. The whole time I sat wondering what Tankai was doing. Why would I be thinking of that? Perhaps it was because of our little moment while dancing? Who knows…

“Imagine someone gave you a magic wand that would make your life exactly how you want it to be in 5 years, what would you ask for?” This was the question my image-editing teacher started the class off with. He went on to tell us his humorous secrets to success and then dropping us with an assignment to go along with it. My homework: think about where you want to be in 5 years. Think big and truly try to figure out what you want out of life, and then create an artistic collage depicting it.

That’s simple enough: rich, famous, and happily married to Prince Charming. There I’m done, or at least that’s what I thought.

It’s such a simple question, and after really thinking about it, I found, it doesn’t have a simple answer.  You would think it would be easy seeing as, all through high school they tell you to figure your life out now, have a plan A, B and C. Needless to say, I slacked off when it came to future planning, but now that I’m getting graded on it as well as getting older, I figure this is the perfect time to actually start thinking about it. I mean, I have thought about it, but not down to the dirty little details.

So I dragged my best friend Traci out for a long thoughtful car ride conversation. After a few hours of discussing daydreams, I’ve figured out that my life would be perfect as long as it involved music, traveling, writing, Mr. Right and my friends and family. The wealth and fame and everything else would merely be perks.

I looked at my “life plan” scribbled on a napkin and thought, this isn’t organized whatsoever. Suddenly, I was hit with another important piece of the puzzle: I hate planning! I found I’m the happiest when I’m just going with the flow. When I put my mind on the shelf and just do what feels right. So added to that previous list: a good balance of spontaneity and elimination of the pressure to “figure things out.”

Now this “plan” of mine isn’t completely flushed out to a tee and I doubt it ever will be. I enjoy being scattered. Whether or not I get a good grade on it I really don’t care. My teacher said this would be an “eye-opening” assignment and I agree. Now, I feel relieved to know, although points along the way aren’t set in stone, at least I can finally see where I’m going.

1 Make it a girl’s day. Go out to lunch with your girlfriends, have a cup of coffee and chit-chat about boys, or do dinner with your other single gal-pals. Valentine’s Day shouldn’t only be about couples – it should be about love of all kinds. And what better to celebrate than the love you have for your pals.

2 Organize a Secret Admirers Single Girl’s gift session a’ la Santa. Get a group of girls together and draw names out of a hat.

Then deliver things like, chocolate, her fave movie, teddybears, or other special things that you know she’d like.

3 Forget what day it is. Hide the calendar, flip it to March, or just don’t look. Valentine’s Day is just like any other day. Just because Hallmark sells those cards with hearts on them for February 14, doesn’t mean you have to participate.

4 Hang out with family. This seems to be a great retreat to any depressing occasion that you don’t want to or can’t partake in. Sitting on mom and dad’s couch, for instance, will be so comforting. Top it off with a cup of cocoa and you’ll just reminisce about the times you were young and could care less for Valentine’s.

5 Have a party at your house! (After Having Parents Agree of course!).Invite your girls over for food, movies, music and dancing! Break out the karoke machine too- but to  mix it up, suggest a theme for the party that everyone wear pink (or black if you’ve really caught the single awareness bug) and make a playlist with girl empowered songs!

6 Pig out! Go get your favorite snacks. Let yourself have all the things you usually feel guilty consuming, and this time, don’t feel the least bit guilty. Just eat!

7 Remember that being single is fabulous. Ahhh, it’s the old age saying that single gals say to ourselves when we’re home on Fridays, dateless. But wait, being single IS fabulous! There’s no lying there. Who wouldn’t want the endless opportunities? The world is your oyster

8 Have a eye- candy marathon. Weather it’s Johnny Depp, Zac Efron, or Robert Patterson rent your fav celebrity crush’s movies (or TV series too!) and treat yourself to some fun – and drooling!

9 Grab some single gal pals and go to dinner! Dress up all glamerous and go get something to eat. Don’t hurry (unless Mom is telling you to) and tell hilarious guy stories that will make the table be all smiles. Or make up a Valentine’s game and play for dessert!

10 Since you aren’t spending money on a guy, spend it on yourself. Treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure, or both! Don’t forget to take Mom, a sister, or a best gal pal along.

11 Remind yourself that many couples are unhappy. Valentines – schmalentines. Did you ever stop to think that a lot of these guys and girls out during the holiday may have lots of problems? Just because they’re eating a meal together on February 14, doesn’t mean they’re happier than you. In fact, some are probably quite the opposite.

12 Eat some ice cream. No, it doesn’t make you sad and pathetic. It makes you awesome because you can handle the sugar and you deserve it. And don’t get some sugar-free sorbet. Get the really good stuff – cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, or anything that your stomach is grabbing for!

13 Read countless fashion magazines and strategize for your spring wardrobe. You can make Valentine’s Day a productive one by planning what you’re going to wear when spring hits. It’s only a month or so away!

14 Enjoy yourself. No matter what you do on this day – or any day for that matter – always enjoy yourself. You may not have that “other half” that attached people have, but does that mean your life is any less fabulous? No way. To each their own, and love your life.

15 Read a great book. “Where The Heart Is” is my personal favorite. Anytime I was down about not having found the “right one” yet, I read it and it always changes my perspective. Find an inspiring book that will get you back to down-to-earth thoughts that have nothing to do with cheesy stuff with hearts on them and forced dating.

16 Throw a slumber party. Go back to the time in your life where you and our friends would giggle about boys, not cry about them. On Valentine’s Day, get together with your BFFs and have some fun. From playing silly games like Truth or Dare to making s’mores, this will prove to be more fun than an awkward date with a guy you’re lukewarm for.

17 Eat chocolate. It has been known to cheer women up, which is why so many of them turn to it during times of turmoil. Indulge in a box of truffles or a yummy candy bar. My personal favorite are Hershey Kisses. What’s yours?

18 Spend the day celebrating True Love. Not that junk they try to tell you will make you feel better- the real thing should be celebrated every day. Go find a couple that have been married for a long time (think twenty, thirty years) and ask for stories of how they met and when they got married. It will make you smile.

Last Minute Prom Tips to Prepare for Prom 2009

You’ve tried slimming down, you have been working out as much as you possibly could – but you’re still not feeling as thin as you’d like. Don’t stress. There are so many ways to help make you look slimmer. For starters, wear a dress that is a very dark color, or has vertical stripes. You may even want to wear a corset or body slimmer underneath your dress.

A traditional pair of pantyhose (if worn high enough on your tummy) can help make your waist look a little more trim. Big, clunky jewelry can help make you look smaller overall. A pair of really high shoes will make you appear taller (especially with a long dress) and therefore you will look thinner than you usually would. The last few days before prom, you should try to eliminate soda, candy, chips, really fatty foods, and sugary juices, or anything that is considerably “junk” from your diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, tons of water – make water your main drink. Drink Milk or Soy Milk; eat tons of whole-wheat products and organic foods. This will help flush away all the junk out of your body and make your skin and hair beautiful, making you feel beautiful and healthy. If you keep up with the junk, especially in the days before Prom, you will feel sluggish, heavy, tired, and irritable. Be sure to get plenty of sleep and use a cold, wet cloth on your eyes during the last few days before prom so that your eyes look rested and refreshed.

Don’t have a prom dress yet?No stress. Perhaps many stores are now clearing out some of their prom dresses so you can pick one up much cheaper than a month ago. If you’re worried about not having the “best prom dress” at your prom, just remember that YOU wear the dress, the dress doesn’t wear YOU. In other words, think about the female celebrity you think is most beautiful. Isn’t it true that no matter what style of dress she wears, she will still look amazing? It’s all about how you accessorize, do your hair, makeup, and carry yourself. If you walk in to your prom wearing the most beautiful, expensive designer dress – but stick your nose in the air, you won’t look half as great as the girl who wears a nice dress but gleams with her big friendly smile, and laughs all night – regardless of any problems that might come up. So just choose a dress that you feel comfortable in and makes YOU feel happy. That is one of the most important prom tips you can remember.

Accessorize. What color is your purse? It should always match your shoes. Gold purse – gold shoes. Silver purse – silver shoes. Black purse – you get the point. Your jewelry should also compliment your purse and shoes. If your bag and shoes are silver – don’t wear gold jewelry. If your purse and shoes are pastel colors, it’s ok to wear white or black costume jewelry. If your purse and shoes are white or black – it’s okay to wear either gold or silver jewelry, but not both at the same time. About a week before prom, you should try everything on to make sure it all looks fantastic. Just for fun you can also take pictures of yourself to see how everything fits together – label the picture “before prom” and when prom night arrives, you will probably get lots more pictures taken.

Didn’t get your manicure / pedicure appointment booked? If you can’t find a place that will accept walk-ins to get your nails done professionally – or if you can’t afford it we’ve got that covered. Wal-Mart and several other stores carry press on nails. You can glue them onto your nails and they should last for a few days. Just make sure you get the right size. People with smaller nails should get extra-small, or small. This makes them look totally natural. You can also just pain your nails yourself or have a manicure party with your closest girlfriend(s)! That’s always a fun treat – and you can also share colors.

If you have a camera or camera phone – make sure you keep your phone charged the last few days before prom. It might even be a good idea to buy some extra batteries just in case. That way, you’ll be sure to capture the night.

The Night Before Prom T’was the night before prom, and all through the home, was nothing but screaming, “Can’t find a brush or a comb!” Make sure your purse is packed with all essentials for the big night. Make sure you have the following items packed: Brush or comb, hairspray or gel, breath mints or gum, tampax, camera and batteries, face powder, oil blotting sheets, lip-gloss, deodorant, body spray or perfume, eye drops if your eyes get red easily, tweezers, and anything else you would like to bring.
