Lately, there have been SO many people asking for advice on what to do when their best friend changes and they don’t like the person they’ve become. How can they end the friendship nicely? Or how can they tell their friend, “You’ve changed! Be my fun friend again!”?

People do change in personality quite a few times in their life. Sometimes they have influences from other friends, thier different lifestyles, or things they’re interested in. So how can we deal with friends that change into someone we don’t like??

1. If you really can’t stand them anymore, perhaps it’s time to move on. You can always try talking to them and telling them how much both of you have changed, and it may be time to start making friends with people who are more like you.

2. You can simply stop talking to them as much… you know, avoid their calls, tell them you’re busy and can’t hang out, etc. Eventually, they will get bored of waiting for you to hang out with them and they will move on to make new friends.

3. If you are the one that’s changed, think about why. Are you more happy being who you’ve become? Were you happier before? You should really think about why you’ve changed and if you would be happier with a new crowd of friends.

Remember, it is hard to hurt someone’s feelings, and you don’t have to!! You need to do what’s best for you and your friend… and if you’re not happy with your friend, you won’t be a very good friend. So set your friend free to be able to meet new and exciting people while you do the same!! Or, you can try to work things out with your friend by just talking about things and admiting how you’ve both changed so much and became different people.

Prom 2009 Makeup Tips & Tricks

Say goodbye to the smoky-eyed look. With the return of Spring comes a newfound respect for pastels, so toss out that ancient black eyeliner. Instead, blend a creamy powder blue or pistachio matte shadow outward on your top lid. Tone it down by pressing a high impact mascara at the base. This will brighten up your look in under 30 seconds.

Make this prom your night to remember. Pastels brighten your eyes and make them appear bigger and brighter. Your makeup will also match with just about any dress! Very neutral and makeup that is barely there is also really hot for prom this spring. Here below, is a guide to help you remember all the basics of putting together the freshest face for prom 2009. Hair: Pull your hair away from your face while doing your makeup. This helps keep mascara and powders out of your hair and prevents colorful stains.

Eyebrows: Brush your eyebrows with an old toothbrush and hold them in place with clear mascara or clear gel. Be sure they are neatly groomed, and any spaces in between your brows can be filled in with a brow pencil.

Eyes: Use eyedrops to elimate redness and make your whites whiter. Do this before applying any makeup. Next, brush a light pastel color all over your lid and browbone. You can go a little bit darker on the actual lid after applying the lighter color. Apply mascara, and if desired, carefully apply a dark eyeliner on bottom lashline to outline your eyes.

Cheeks: Apply a cream based blush to your cheeks. This helps the color on your cheeks to last longer. If you do not have a cream based blush, apply powder blush after applying foundation to your entire face.

Lips: If you have a lip stain apply it first and add gloss or lip balm after to make your lips smooth and shiny. No lip stain? use a long lasting lipstick or pencil lip liner first all over you lips. Then apply the gloss or lip balm.

Face: Apply concealer under your eyes and over any acne spots. Then mix up your foundation with a little bit of moisturizer for a smoother application. Apply all over face with clean hands or a makeup sponge. Once blended in perfectly, apply powder to eliminate any shine or simply use oil-blotting sheets. -SZ

Prom 2009 Hairstyles

Every girl fusses over the classic prom up-do for prom 2009. Why focus so much on putting your hair up when you can let everyone see how beautiful your hair is? Let it flow. Add some curls or waves like Vanessa Hudgens did. She pulled off this look suitable for prom. Save yourself some time and money with this gorgeous hairstyle for Prom 2009.

Best of all, if you have short hair, you don’t have to worry about trying to pull your hair up into an up-do. You can leave it down and just add a few curls or waves.

Still not convinced that this is the right look for prom? Try adding a tiara! Many girls are afraid to wear tiaras to their first prom because they don’t want people to think they think they are the prom queen. Truth is, when you arrive at your first prom – you will see many girls wearing tiaras. And why shouldn’t you wear a tiara? You don’t have to be the prom queen to feel like royalty. This is your night. And if you want to feel like a princess, you should.

We tested out this hair down for prom look, and think it looks absolutely fabulous. Best of all, you don’t need to spend a lot of money at a salon. You can curl your own hair or have your mom, sister, of BFF do it for you! Just be sure to add enough hairspray or mousse so the curls last all night. Hair down with waves or curls also goes perfectly with any dress – so keep that in mind too.

Whichever hairstyle you shall choose, stay confident and don’t forget to bring your smile to prom.

As you can see, Models Jill and Kayce have left their hair down and added some waves. They then incorporated some beautiful tiaras for that finishing prom touch.

To easily achieve this hairstyle:

Add some rollers / curlers to your damp hair. For smaller curls, use smaller sections of hair. For larger curls or waves, use larger sections of hair.

Keep the rollers in your hair for 8-12 hours.

The longer you keep them in, the better your results will be. Sleeping with them in your hair overnight will give you the best results. Once your hair has dried completely, you might even want to blow-dry the curlers with high heat. Heat makes curls stay in longer. Take out the curlers, and don’t be alarmed if they aren’t perfect. Add some mousse, gel, or hairspray to calm them down. You can also use a curling iron to add more curls if you don’t have enough.

So you still want to put your hair up in a prom up-do?

You should curl your hair first – follow the steps above if you aren’t sure how.

Leave your bangs and two sections of hair in the front down, and pull the rest of your hair back into a ponytail.

Then add a secure clip on the underside of the ponytail, making your curls fountain out of the clip.

Finish with some hairspray.

This prom hairstyle will go with just about any dress – no matter how casual or fancy it is.

Another great prom hairstyle for long hair to try is to simply pull your hair back (with a side part).

Put it in a tight, low ponytail.

Then literally tie your hair in a knot.

Once you have your knot, take the hair that hangs down and clip it underneath your ponytail with pins or clips.

Try this super gorgeous hairstyle, perfect for prom. Pull your hair up securing it with clips.

Your hair should be pre-curled before you do this but you’ll need to add spiral curls with a curling iron after your hair is securley cliped in place.

Leave your front hair down in front of your ears and curl only the ends.

As for men, they can simply gel their hair and leave it look messy or neat. It is much easier for men with short hair to get the perfect prom hair.

Last Minute Prom Tips to Prepare for Prom 2009

You’ve tried slimming down, you have been working out as much as you possibly could – but you’re still not feeling as thin as you’d like. Don’t stress. There are so many ways to help make you look slimmer. For starters, wear a dress that is a very dark color, or has vertical stripes. You may even want to wear a corset or body slimmer underneath your dress.

A traditional pair of pantyhose (if worn high enough on your tummy) can help make your waist look a little more trim. Big, clunky jewelry can help make you look smaller overall. A pair of really high shoes will make you appear taller (especially with a long dress) and therefore you will look thinner than you usually would. The last few days before prom, you should try to eliminate soda, candy, chips, really fatty foods, and sugary juices, or anything that is considerably “junk” from your diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, tons of water – make water your main drink. Drink Milk or Soy Milk; eat tons of whole-wheat products and organic foods. This will help flush away all the junk out of your body and make your skin and hair beautiful, making you feel beautiful and healthy. If you keep up with the junk, especially in the days before Prom, you will feel sluggish, heavy, tired, and irritable. Be sure to get plenty of sleep and use a cold, wet cloth on your eyes during the last few days before prom so that your eyes look rested and refreshed.

Don’t have a prom dress yet?No stress. Perhaps many stores are now clearing out some of their prom dresses so you can pick one up much cheaper than a month ago. If you’re worried about not having the “best prom dress” at your prom, just remember that YOU wear the dress, the dress doesn’t wear YOU. In other words, think about the female celebrity you think is most beautiful. Isn’t it true that no matter what style of dress she wears, she will still look amazing? It’s all about how you accessorize, do your hair, makeup, and carry yourself. If you walk in to your prom wearing the most beautiful, expensive designer dress – but stick your nose in the air, you won’t look half as great as the girl who wears a nice dress but gleams with her big friendly smile, and laughs all night – regardless of any problems that might come up. So just choose a dress that you feel comfortable in and makes YOU feel happy. That is one of the most important prom tips you can remember.

Accessorize. What color is your purse? It should always match your shoes. Gold purse – gold shoes. Silver purse – silver shoes. Black purse – you get the point. Your jewelry should also compliment your purse and shoes. If your bag and shoes are silver – don’t wear gold jewelry. If your purse and shoes are pastel colors, it’s ok to wear white or black costume jewelry. If your purse and shoes are white or black – it’s okay to wear either gold or silver jewelry, but not both at the same time. About a week before prom, you should try everything on to make sure it all looks fantastic. Just for fun you can also take pictures of yourself to see how everything fits together – label the picture “before prom” and when prom night arrives, you will probably get lots more pictures taken.

Didn’t get your manicure / pedicure appointment booked? If you can’t find a place that will accept walk-ins to get your nails done professionally – or if you can’t afford it we’ve got that covered. Wal-Mart and several other stores carry press on nails. You can glue them onto your nails and they should last for a few days. Just make sure you get the right size. People with smaller nails should get extra-small, or small. This makes them look totally natural. You can also just pain your nails yourself or have a manicure party with your closest girlfriend(s)! That’s always a fun treat – and you can also share colors.

If you have a camera or camera phone – make sure you keep your phone charged the last few days before prom. It might even be a good idea to buy some extra batteries just in case. That way, you’ll be sure to capture the night.

The Night Before Prom T’was the night before prom, and all through the home, was nothing but screaming, “Can’t find a brush or a comb!” Make sure your purse is packed with all essentials for the big night. Make sure you have the following items packed: Brush or comb, hairspray or gel, breath mints or gum, tampax, camera and batteries, face powder, oil blotting sheets, lip-gloss, deodorant, body spray or perfume, eye drops if your eyes get red easily, tweezers, and anything else you would like to bring.

Never forget, the most important thing to bring with you to Prom this year – is your smile. Have a fantastic time at prom 2009!

His mother tried to raise him the best she could and provide everything that is needed but at such a young age its alot easier said then done, but she never gave up working two jobs to pay bills and support her son. The life leading to Konvicts music career is to much to list all in here but listen to his music and you will hear nothing but truth from his past and what is still happening now! The name Konvict was chosen based on his criminal record. In and out of jail since 13 years old, convicted of everything from theft, assault, to robberies, aggrivated assault and everything inbetween! But he finally realized that jail is not the place to be.

Following Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B music since he was an infant, it was seen as his only escape from the brutal realities of life in Hamilton. He lived a life for some is rarely ever seen except whatever makes it to the news. Some people make a choice to be involved in criminal activity. Others are born into it, with no other real options, and are forced to make the best out of what they have, even when sometimes its nothing at all. Realizing his lyrical talent while writing in custody Konvict knew this was his ticket, his only option to make something worthwhile out of life. After starting a rap group titled Steel City Movement after his release from custody in October 2007, he began recording with another artist. In the end it didn’t work out and both artists went their seperate ways. Alone in this game, Konvict took a break with music and got involved in illegal activity again, getting arrested 4 more times before he met his girlfriend Sky Becker. She is what keeps him going day in day out thinking positively when life threw nothing but negativity at him. Since he has met her she has been his inspiration to make his music happen. She will be the mother of his child and is the reason he keeps going when there is little or no hope left. Starting a new life, fresh, seemed impossible and it proved to be just that. All he can do is keep making hits and hope he is recognized for his musical talent. Until that day the struggle continues…

Many of you may remember in January 09’s ‘Featured Band’ section of SZ, we featured Konvict 905, or 19 year old rapper, John McMullen. Well, 5 months later, we got his gorgeous blonde hair / blue-eyed girlfriend Sky on the cover! In our interview with Sky, she talks about her fav things, shares beauty tips, her pregnancy, and more!

I love to chill at home with my babe (John), go for long walks with
John… chill with my friends, go on the computer, do my hair, listen to
music (usually on my iPod), and take pictures

Make sure your make-up isn’t all over the place and take time to put it
on, lol.

Chap stick, mascara, and color eyeliner.

Can you offer any tips for young girls who just found out they are
pregnant and are scared?
I would say…. go tell your mom or boyfriend first, your mom will help
you out and so will your boyfriend. In my situation, my mom kept asking me
when I was going to get my period because we always got it on the same
week. She was worried so she bought me a pee test. That same night I found
out I was pregnant, my mom was kind of disappointed and scared for me. I
was a little scared because I didn’t have a job or anything. I told my boyfriend and he told me he was gunna be with me no matter what, for anything. When John found out, he said he was going to get a job and support me and my baby. So that made me not be nervous or scared anymore. My mom and John both support me and are helping me through it.

You will both make great parents, and offer so much hope to teens who are
pregnant and afraid. Tell us more about yourself?

I love having people around me. I’m with John everyday. I sleep at his house every weekend. I love watching TV like; Two and a half men, fresh prince of bel air, still standing, king of queens, and Maury. I love playin video games with John. Sometimes I go for walks on a trail, so I stay fit. I walk mostly everywhere. I love seeing my baby on the ultra sound, and I also love feeling the baby kick and move around. That’s what I love about pregnancy. And I want my baby to come out right now, so I can hold it and love it. I think I am goin to be a good mom and I think John’s gunna be a good dad. He also loves when the baby kicks for him – he gets SO happy I also enjoy swimming, going out to eat, going to the movies, and generally, just being around people
